The SSN and last name of the qualifying child for the earned income credit (EIC) do not match what is on file with the IRS. In order to qualify for the EIC, the qualifying child’s information must be updated.

 

Fix #1: Sign into your RapidTax account to update the qualifying child’s SSN and/or last name right from your rejection status page. Resubmit for filing.

 

Fix #2: If you did not qualify to claim this child for the EIC, remove the child’s information from your account and resubmit without claiming the EIC.
